1) Why they are calculating Rank List??
ANS:In schools they will used to calculate 1st Rank & 2nd Rank, As like that Anna university also calculating the Rank list to assign a rank for each Engineering counselling candidate. We can say the Rank is an unique number. But what is the use means according to the Rank only they will call you to the counselling(e.g First 100 Rank students come at first Day, Second 100 Rank students come at second day.... )
2) How Anna university is assigning the Rank List??
ANS:There are lots of criteria's to assign a Ranking for each candidates/Students in the Anna university counselling.
- During the Rank list calculation they will first take the candidates cutoff marks, But surely the cutoff marks will be same for many students
- So at this situation they will considered the total, if total is also same
- Then they will consider the Mathematics marks, if Mathematics mark is also same
- Then they will consider the Physics Marks, if Physics Marks is also same
- Then they will consider the Chemistry Marks, If chemistry Marks is also same
- Then they will consider the Date of birth according to seniority will give preference first, if Date of birth also matches

3) Is the Ranking List very important??
ANS:Yes Rank list is very very important, because according to the Rank only your counselling schedule date and time will be allotted, And also the counselling Date & Time will be send you in call letter
